Pubudu Dassanayake has been shortlisted as a finalist for the job of USA's head coach

Former Sri Lanka cricketer Pubudu Dassanayake, who coached Nepal from 2011 to 2015, has been shortlisted as a finalist for the job of USA's head coach. Dassanayake, who lives close to Toronto, said he is looking for a challenge close to home after spending several years away with the Nepal side.

"Nepal, they were from Division Four to Division One and played a World Cup and I want to do the same for USA," Dassanayake told ESPNcricinfo in Florida where he is participating in an ICC coaching seminar. "I think it's a great place. There are great opportunities, a lot of talent in this country. I'd really like to see them come up the ranks and be in that World Cup setup."

Prior to his success with Nepal, Dassanayake coached Canada from 2007 to 2011, and helped them to the 2011 ODI World Cup in the sub-continent, Canada's last major ICC event. Dassanayake also played for Canada after migrating from Sri Lanka following the end of his Test career and played in the 2005 World Cup Qualifier in Ireland.

His ties to North American cricket make him a strong contender for the role. While coach of Nepal, Dassanayake racked up an impressive record against USA in ICC competitions, losing just once - at the 2013 ICC WCL Division Three in Bermuda - in six meetings.

Anand Tummala, former USA and Ranji Trophy representative, is also in contention for the post. Tummala played briefly for Delhi before migrating to Atlanta in 2007. He made his only tour with USA in 2011, playing three T20s, including games against Canada and Afghanistan. Tummala, who is a Level Three Cricket Australia certified coach, also served as a guest coaching evaluator at last year's ICC Americas Combine in Indianapolis. Tummala has also been in Florida this week as part of the ICC coaching seminar.

Both Tummala and Dassanayake attended USA's first training session in their week-long camp which began on Thursday, and will also be present at an exhibition match on Friday between a USA XI and a CPL Invitational XI in Lauderhill.

Although the ICC wouldn't comment on the applications, there are believed to be at least two more finalists with interviews beginning on Friday. USA will play three 50-over intra-squad trial matches in Florida next week among a 30-man squad, after which 14 will be selected for ICC WCL Division Four in Los Angeles from October 29 to November 5.

Captain Gaje Ghale - Bibliography

Captain Gaje Ghale, who has died aged 81 in Delhi, was awarded a Victoria Cross, as a Havildar (sergeant) when leading a platoon of young soldiers of the 5th Royal Gurkha Rifles in Burma in May 1943.

On May 24 a large force of Japanese were attempting to make an advance into the Chin Hills, where the 2nd/5th Gurkhas were part of the defence force. The Japanese occupied a vital tactical point, the key to the position, on Basha East Hill, the approach to which was a long bare knife-edge ridge which in some places was as little as 15ft wide.

Two attempts to capture this point had been attempted and both had failed, for the Japanese were able to rake the position with fire from a dozen machine guns, as well as artillery and mortars, from concealed positions in the surrounding jungle.

On May 25, Gaje Ghale was given the task of taking the position. Although it was his first time under fire, he showed from the beginning outstanding courage. Shouting the Gurkha battle cry, he led assault after assault along the ridge onto the entrenched Japanese.

A Japanese grenade wounded Gaje Ghale in the chest, arm and leg. Though covered with blood, he ignored his injuries and continued to throw grenades with his other arm.

After prolonged hand-to-hand fighting the position was captured. The Gurkhas succeeded in holding it in the face of heavy fire from the Japanese trying to retake it.

In spite of his wounds, Gaje Ghale refused to go back to the regimental aid post until certain that the position was consolidated and secure, and then only when eventually ordered to by an officer.

Gaje Ghale, a Gurung of the Ghale tribe, was born in Barpak village in the Gorkha district of Nepal on August 1 1918 (though he also admitted to being born on July 1 1922).

In 1934 he enlisted as a boy recruit, and on completing his training joined the 2nd Battalion, 5th Royal Gurkha Rifles (Frontier Force). He served in Waziristan, and from 1939 to 1942 was an Instructor at the Regimental Centre in Abbotabad.

In 1943 when it was proposed to present Gaje Ghale with the Victoria Cross medal at the regimental centre in Abbotabad, the regimental Bahun (the near equivalent of a chaplain in a British regiment, who holds no rank and wears no uniform but is a respected religious adviser) announced that the date was inauspicious and should be postponed. Soon afterwards a signal giving official confirmation of the postponement was received.

Gaje Ghale later received the VC from Field Marshal Lord Wavell in Delhi at a parade beneath the walls of the Red Fort in the presence of a crowd of 5,000. He was later decorated with the Star of Nepal in Kathmandu by the Prime Minister of Nepal.

In 1946 Gaje Ghale attended the victory parade in London, and after Independence in 1947 remained with the Battalion, now serving the Government of India. He was promoted to Subedar Major (Senior Indian Officer).

In 1963 he served in the Congo with the United Nations Force, along with Subedar Agansing Rai, a fellow VC who had won his award in 1944. Before retiring he was granted the honorary rank of captain.

A regular attender of VC reunions, in 1990 Gaje Ghale joined four of the seven Gurkha VC-holders then surviving at the opening of the Gurkha Museum at the Peninsula Barracks, Winchester, Hampshire.

Five years later he was one of a gathering of 21 VCs at the Royal Tournament as part of the 50th anniversary of V-J Day.

Gaje Ghale was married; he leaves four sons and four daughters.

The Life of Gautam Buddha- Light of the Asia

1. The Shakya clansmen dwelt along the river Rohini that flowed among the southern foothills of the Himalayas. Their King Suddhodana Gautam had transferred his capital to Kapila and there had built a great castle and had ruled wisely, winning the joyful acclaim of his people.

The Queen's name was Maya. She was the daughter of the King's uncle who was also a king of the neighboring division of the same Shakya clan. For twenty years they had no children, then, after dreaming a strange dream of an elephant entering her side, Queen Maya became pregnant. The King and the people looked forward with joyful expectancy to the birth of a royal child. According to their custom the Queen returned to her own home for the birth, and while on the way, in the beautiful spring sunshine, she rested in the flower garden of Lumbini Park. All about her were Asoka blossoms and in delight she reached out her right arm to pluck a branch and the Prince was born. All expressed their heartfelt delight and extolled the glory of the Queen and her princely child; even Heaven and Earth manifested their joy. This memorable day was the eighth day of April. The joy of the King was extreme as he named the child: Siddhartha, which means, "Every wish fulfilled."

2. In the palace of the King, however, delight was quickly followed by sorrow, for after a few days lovely Queen Maya suddenly passed away. Fortunately her younger sister, Prajapati became the child's foster mother and brought it up with loving care.

A hermit, who lived in the mountains not far away, noticing a glory about the castle and interpreting it as a good omen, came down to the palace and was shown the child. He predicted: "This prince, if he remains in the palace after his youth, will become a great King to rule the Four Seas. But if he forsakes the household life to embrace a religious life, he will become a Buddha and the world's Savior." At first the King was pleased because of the prophecy, but later became troubled at the thought of the possibility of his only son leaving the palace to become a homeless recluse.

At the age of seven the Prince began his lessons in literature and the military arts, but his thoughts more naturally ran to other things. One spring day he went out of the castle with his father and they were watching a farmer at his plowing; he noticed a bird flying down to the ground and carrying away a little worm which had been thrown out of the ground by the farmer's plough. He who had lost his mother so soon after his birth, was deeply affected by the tragedy of these two little creatures. He sat down in the shade of a tree and thought about it, whispering to himself:

"Alas! Do all living creatures kill each other?"

This spiritual wound was deepened day after day as he grew up; like a little scar on a young tree, the sufferings of human life were more and more deeply carved into his mind.

The King was increasingly worried as he recalled the hermit's prophecy and tried in every possible way to cheer the Prince and to turn his thoughts in other directions. At the age of nineteen, the King arranged the marriage of the Prince to the Princess Yasodhara, who was the daughter of Suprabuddha, Lord of Koliya castle and a brother of the late Queen Maya.

3. For ten years the Prince was immersed in a round of music, dancing and pleasure, in the different pavilions of Spring, Autumn and Winter, but ever his thoughts reverted to the problem of suffering as he pensively tried to understand the true meaning of human life.

"Luxuries of the palace, healthy bodies, rejoicing youth! what do they mean to me?" he meditated. "Some day we may be sick, we shall become aged, from death we can not eventually escape. Pride of youth, pride of health, pride of existence, all thoughtful people must cast them aside."

"A man struggling for existence will naturally look for help. There are two ways of looking for help, a right way and a wrong way. To look the wrong way means that, while he recognizes that sickness, old age and death are unavoidable, he looks for help among the same class of empty, transitory things. To look the right way means that he recognizes the true nature of sickness, old age and death, and looks for life in that which transcends all human suffering. In this palace life of pleasure I seem to be looking for help in the wrong way."

4. Thus the mental struggle went on in the mind of the Prince until his twenty-ninth year when his only child, Rahula, was born. This seemed to bring things to a climax and he decided to leave his palace home and seek the solution of his mental unrest in the homeless life of a mendicant. This plan he carried out one night, by leaving the castle with only his personal servant, Channa, and his favorite horse, the snow-white Kanthaka, and even these he left behind him when he had crossed the river at the b ounds of his Father's kingdom.

But his mental troubles were not at an end and many doubts beset him. "Perhaps it would be better for me to return to the castle and seek some other solution; then the whole world will be mine." But he resisted these doubts by realizing that nothing worldly could satisfy him. So he shaved his head, carried a begging bowl in his hand, and turned his mendicant steps to the south.

The Prince first visited the hermit Bhagava and watched his ascetic practices; then he went successively to Arada Kalama and Udraka Ramaputra to learn their methods of attainment, but after practicing them for a time became convinced that they would not lead him to enlightenment. Finally he went to the Magadha country and practiced asceticism in the forest of Uruvilva on the banks of the Nairanjana river where it flows by the Gaya Castle.

5. The methods of his practice were unbelievably intense. He spurred himself on with the thought that "no ascetic in the past, none in the present, and none in the future, ever have or ever will practice more earnestly that I do."

Still, the Prince could not get what he sought. After six years in the forest he gave up the practice of asceticism. He bathed in the river and accepted a bowl of food from the hand of Sujata, a maid who lived in the neighboring village. The five companions who had lived with the Prince for the six years of his ascetic practices looked on with amazement that he could receive food from the hand of a maiden; they thought him degraded thereby and left him. The Prince, thus, was left alone. He was still feeble but at the risk of his life he attempted a final meditation, saying to himself, "Blood may become exhausted, flesh may decay, bones may fall apart, but I will never leave this place until I find the way to enlightenment."

It was an intense and incomparable struggle! His mind was desperate, was filled with confusing thoughts, dark shadows overhung his spirit, he was beset with all the lures of evil. But carefully and patiently he examined them one by one and rejected them all. It, indeed, was a hard struggle, that made his blood run thin, his flesh creep, and his bones crack. But when the morning star appeared in the eastern sky, the struggle was over and the Prince's mind was as clear and bright as the day-break. He had found the path to enlightenment at last. It was December the 8th, when he was thirty-five years of age that the Prince became Buddha.

6. From this time on the Prince was known by different names; some spoke of him as Buddha, the Perfectly Enlightened One; some spoke of him as Shakyamuni, the Sage of the Shakya clan; and still others spoke of him affectionately as the Blessed One. He went first to Mrigadava in Varanasi where the five mendicants who had lived with him during the six years of his ascetic life were staying. At first they shunned him, but after he had talked with them, they believed in him and became his first followers. Then he went to Rajagriha castle and won over King Bimbisara who had always been his friend.

From there he went about the country living on alms and persuading men to accept his way of life, and men responded to him as thirsty men seek water and hungry men seek food. Two great teachers, Sariputra and Maudgalyayana, and their two thousand disciples came to him. At first the Buddha's Father, King Suddhodana, suffering inwardly from his son's retirement, held aloof, but afterward became his faithful disciple; and Maha-Prajapati, the Buddha's step-mother, and the Princess Yasodhara, his wife, and all the members of the Shakya clan, believed in him and followed him. And multitudes of others became his devoted and faithful followers.

7. For forty-five years the Buddha went about the country preaching and persuading men to follow his way of life, but at last, at Vaisali on the way from Rajagriha to Sravasti, he became ill and predicted that after three months he would enter Nirvana. Still he journeyed on until he reached Pava where he was made critically ill by food offered by Cunda, a blacksmith. Then by easy stages in spite of great pain and weakness, he reached the forest on the border of Kuninagara castle. Lying between two large sala trees, he continued his teachings to his favorite disciples until the last moment. Thus passed into the unknown the greatest of the world's teachers and the kindest of men.

8. Under the oversight of Ananda, the Buddha's favorite disciple, the body was cremated by his friends in Kusinagara castle. Seven of the neighboring rulers under the lead of King Ajatasatru demanded that the ashes be divided among them. The King of the Kunsinagara castle at first refused and the dispute even threatened to end in war, but by the advice of a wise man named Dona, the crises passed and the ashes were divided and buried under eight great monuments. Even the embers of the fire and the earthen jar that had held the ashes were divided and given to two others to be likewise honored.

Check out your Luck

It is his write up of an 8 year scientific study into what luck actually is. He identifies 4 (I think) traits of the personality which add up to making a "lucky" person. He investigated thing such as whether people are born with it, can catch it, can change it....

The traits are along the lines of:
- relaxed attitude
- trusting your intuition
- optimism and perseverance
- ability to turn bad luck into good luck

It demonstrates that if you consider yourself unlucky then all is not lost. By changing your attitude and/or behaviour then you can become "lucky".

One of the most interesting things I took from the book was that lucky people tend not to bang on about things when they aren't going so well, and unlucky people moan all day long when even minor things happen to them. The upshot being that when a good thing happens to a lucky person the unlucky people say "oh my god, why do good things always happen to you?" when in actual fact both experience the same amount of bad things, it's just that a lucky person doesn't draw attention to it and thus is deemed by the unlucky person to be not experiencing them at all.

TV personality Derren Brown did a tv show here in the UK that felt like it was  based on Richard Wiseman's book chapter by chapter. He got a whole town in Yorkshire tricked into believing luck was acquirable and then picked on an "unlucky" butcher he'd identified as not having the traits necessary to be "lucky" and tried to get him to change his attitudes, the finale being him betting his life savings on the roll of the dice.

Nepali Cricket Team Created History in Lords

Every time Nepal cricket gets a global stage, it leaves no stone unturned to prove that it has the potential to become a global cricketing power. It was the same story on July 19, when Nepal XI took Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) at the Lords’ Cricket Ground, also known as the Mecca of Cricket.

For the record, Nepal bowled out MCC for 176 to register a 41-run win after scoring 217 for 8 in 50 overs. But, the match result isn’t as important as Nepal’s appearance at the Lords’ as it’s an honor & recognition for an Associate nation whose cricket board remains suspended by ICC.
“All those years [of playing cricket], we never dreamed that we will get a match at Lords’,” Nepal’s captain Paras Khadka said. “It’s a platform for us to showcase what Nepal cricket is and the talents.”

“To play at the ground where cricket originated is a historic moment and we have been able to give a message to the world from this platform,” Khadka said after the match. “Country like Nepal won’t get an opportunity to play at Lords always, but we got an opportunity and we proved ourselves.”
More than 3,000 Nepalis and Nepal-supporting English people from all over England attended the match played as a part of the celebrations of 200 years of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the UK. The Lords’ live streamed the match on YouTube which regularly had more than 10,000 live viewers. “The fans are our biggest motivators, everywhere we go in the world, they come to support us,” Khadka said.
On a hot sunny day and a slow pitch, used for the England – Pakistan Test match, Nepal won the toss and elected to bat first. Nepal’s batsmen were able to get a competitive total although they couldn’t convert a good start into a big knock.

Opener Gyanendra Malla gave Nepal a decent start and played an anchoring role scoring 39 whereas captain Khadka scored 30. Sharad Veswakar (27), Sagar Pun (26), and Raju Rijal (24) all got the start but couldn’t convert. Towards the end, Basant Regmi (24 not out) and Sompal Kami (20) ensured that Nepal reaches past 200 with their 42-run stand for the eighth wicket.
Fast bowler Chad Barrett took 2/35 in 10 overs, while captain and off-spinner Keith Dutch took 2/36.
In reply, MCC’s decent start reaching 35 for none was spoiled by spinners. Right-arm off-spinner Sagar Pun picked up 3/35 whereas left-arm spinner Basant Regmi and pacer Sompal ripped the tail with 2 wickets each.
Only opener George Adair batted brilliantly in the chase and kept his side in the hunt for a victory. He got a 100 off 122 balls in a patient knock and briefly threatened to pull off the match in favor of MCC before failing to do so. The only other batsman to reach some score was Richard Wilkinson who got 20.

kp oli who became trusting PM of Nepal in 10 years

Oli, who became prime minister last October heading Nepal's eighth govt in the past 10 years, has been facing a no-trust motion

Nepal's embattled Prime Minister K P Oli resigned today just before a no-confidence vote which he termed as a conspiracy by "foreign elements" to turn the country into a "laboratory" and obstruct the implementation of the new Constitution, triggering a fresh political turmoil.

Oli, who became prime minister last October heading Nepal's eighth government in the past 10 years, has been facing a no-trust motion after the Maoists withdrew support from the coalition government.

"I have decided to open the road to elect a new prime minister in this parliament and presented my resignation to the president," 64-year-old Oli told lawmakers who were set to vote on the no-confidence motion.

Oli tendered his resignation after two key ruling alliance partners -- Madhesi People's Rights Forum-Democratic and Rastriya Prajatantra Party -- decided to support the no-confidence motion tabled against him by the Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-Maoist Centre led by Prachanda.

They had accused Oli of not honouring his past commitments. Maoist chief Prachanda, who is the favourite to replace Oli, on Friday had accused the Prime Minister of being ego-centric and self-centered and said, "This made us unable to continue to work with him."

Meanwhile, President Bidya Devi Bhandari today accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Oli and asked him to work as caretaker untill the new government is formed, according to a notice issued by the President's office.

The opposition parties had accused Oli for failing to speed up post-earthquake reconstruction work, control market price and black marketing, maintain transparency and address the demands raised by the agitating Madhesi parties. Sacking of Nepalese ambassador to India, Deep Kumar Upadhyaya, also a Nepali Congress senior leader, last month by the Oli government, had also distanced the ruling alliance from the main opposition party, pointed out observers.

Oli, however, dismissed all the allegations levelled against him by Prachanda and others while responding to the no-trust motion in the 596-member Parliament.

He also backed dialogue to address grievances of Madhesis, mostly of Indian-origin, who are opposed to the country's new Constitution and had launched protests that led to the blockade of key trading points with India.

"The demands of the agitating Madhesi parties could be addressed through peaceful means of dialogue and the Constitution could be amended to accommodate their demands," he said.

"There is no need to return to the agitation," Oli said pointing to the Madhesi parties. He also cautioned the people against conspiracy being hatched to drag the country towards "regression".

He warned that his resignation would have far-reaching implications for the country and lead to further political instability. "There are occasions when those who spoke the truth were penalised and those who stood for patriotism were punished," he said.

"Nepal is being developed as a laboratory and foreign elements are conspiring not to implement the constitution," he said, apparently referring to India.

This symptoms shows she is ready for sex::::: Read More make her happy

You’ve been seeing each other a few times a week and you’re wildly attracted to her. She keeps giving you what you think are signals that she’s ready to seal the deal and go past third base, but are you sure she’s really ready? Before you make an assumption and push away what could be the greatest sex of your life, check out these signs — straight from experts and real women — that give you a clue into what she’s really thinking, and if she really wants you (now):

1. She says, “I feel so comfortable around you”
Relationship and sex expert Vanessa Marin says those five little words are a signal that she’s starting to think about having sex. Women need to feel secure and like they can trust you before they’re ready to hop into bed, especially if they’re eyeing you for potential boyfriend material. If she slips these words at the end of your next date, suggest a nightcap at your place or hers for the next time you see one another, and talk about how you feel around her, too. This will open up the conversation and you might just get an invitation to the bedroom.
2. She starts initiating sleepovers.
Here’s a good rule of thumb with women from 28-year-old single gal Heather from Chicago: “If I don’t want you in my apartment, you won’t be there. If we’ve been dating for a few weeks and I feel like I might be ready to have sex, I’ll invite the guy back to my place and suggest cooking dinner.” Don’t be too presumptuous if you make it upstairs, and wait for her to make the move (she will, we promise!); but remember, women generally want to have sex for the first time with a new guy in their own space, and she’ll be watching how you act in her home, too. Ask questions, make yourself somewhat comfortable and make sure you pack a toothbrush, just in case.
3. She’s touching you more.
At dinner, while you’re walking, when you’re making out or at any point when you’re together, a girl who is starting to be really into you won’t be able to keep her hands off of you, says Marin. Physical acts of affection usually demonstrate that she’s feeling increasingly more attracted to you — and thus, might want to get even more physical behind closed doors. The best thing you can do is return the gesture: hold her hand, kiss her randomly, tell her how wild you are about her. This will reassure her that you’re on the same page…. and ready for the next level, too.
4. She’s asking about your past sexual history.
When a lady is about to add another number to her list, she starts to wonder about just how many girls you’ve brought home over the years. While it isn’t healthy to talk extensively about past relationships, relationship expert Sharon O’Neil says it is a good idea to talk about your past in terms of health. Most women will ask you to get tested for STDs and/or go together to the clinic before you do the deed for the first time. If you’re interested in a relationship and want to take that next step together as a couple, then bring up the conversation yourself. This will show her just how serious you are and make her more comfortable once those results come in.
5. She’s asking if you’re exclusive.
You just had another great date followed by an everything-but session in bed. You’re dying to sleep with her but she rolls over and asks, “Are you seeing anyone else?” Though it might kill the moment for you, if you’re ready to make the move forward as a couple, this is the perfect time to talk openly about your expectations surrounding exclusivity and relationships. Most women would prefer to be exclusive before sleeping with you — or at the very least, be exclusively sleeping together.

Nepal- The Queen of beauty

18 Places to visit in Nepal before you die
Nepal has a lot to offer to travelers, hikers, and nature seekers. Nepal, it is often said, is a utopia of natural beauty. The marvelous scenic beauty of Himalayas in the northern part of Nepal is not only remarkable but offers a lifetime experience to patrons. Who wouldn't want to enjoy the glory of being in the midst of galvanizing mountain desert in Mustang to the embankment of cristal clear Rara Lake?
The enchanted subtropical pine forest bluffs anyone with its aroumatic presence in valleys like Barun and Langtang. The astonishing beauty of Lake Tilicho often outbids the value of filthy rich human being on earth. For the most part, the pacifying and self-explanatory images listed below give a glimpse of the stupendous nature that is still far from human invasion.

18. Koshi Tappu - Wildlife Reserve

Koshi Tappu
"A primeir location in Nepal for bird watching. The Kosi Tapu and the Kosi Barrage in east Nepal provide one of the best places in Nepal to view migratory water fowl, waders and shore birds during the winter months. Many species not recorded elsewhere in the region have been seen here. Thousands of birds congregate here in January and February before they migrate north when the warm weather begins. Kosi Tapu Tented Camp situated on the fringe of the reserve provides the only accommodation to date. Well qualified nature guides take the guests out on walks, jeep drives and boat rides to look for birds and the wild buffalo found only here in Nepal. It is possible to combine this tour with SunKosi Raft Trip or with treks in the eastern hills." -timetotime t (Tripadvisor)

17. Chitwan national Park

"Nestled at the foot of the Himalayas, Chitwan has a particularly rich flora and fauna and is home to one of the last populations of single-horned Asiatic rhinoceros and is also one of the last refuges of the Bengal Tiger.
